St Andrew's Church

St Andrew’s Church in Aysgarth is an Anglican parish church in Upper Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, located close to the River Ure and Aysgarth Falls. The present limestone building has medieval origins with a first structure from the early 13th century, but it was substantially rebuilt in the 16th century and then almost completely reconstructed between 1864 and 1866, leaving mainly the lower part of the tower from the earlier church. The church is noted for its extensive graveyard, thought to cover over four acres and to have served the surrounding communities for centuries, and for significant interior features such as the relocated Jervaulx Abbey rood screen, Victorian stained glass, and a reredos based on Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper.
